Erotic Lit To Take On Your Summer Vacation

storyofoHere’s something else to put on your must-pack list when you’re getting ready to go on your summer vacation: erotica.

And I’m not referring to the 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy. I do think E.L. James is owed a whole debt of gratitude for opening up millions of women’s eyes (and perhaps their legs) to the marvel that is erotica.

But I feel bad for the women who think that’s all the erotica publishing industry has to offer them.

So when you’re getting ready for your vacation, or even if you’re just sitting out the heat at home, here’s a list of recommendations to suit you whether your tastes run towards vampires, cowboys or the guy next door.

Story of O by Pauline Reage was my first introduction to erotica over 20 years ago. And I still keep it in my nightstand drawer. This novel tells the tale of O, a Parisian fashion photographer, as she is indoctrinated in to the world of submission by her boyfriend.

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice is the first in a trilogy that is loosely based on the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Set in a medieval fantasy world, the story revolves around Beauty who is awakened from a long sleep by the Prince. Not with a kiss but with sex.

When You Dare by Lori Foster features Molly, a bestselling author, who hires Dare, a professional mercenary, to help her track down the person who kidnapped her. Sexy romance and a good story!

The Long Hard Ride by Lorelei James is the first in a series that combines bondage, menage a trois and cowboys. Sounds perfect for a summer vacation read, especially if you’re going to a dude ranch.

Orgasmic: Erotica for Women edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel is a collection of erotic short stories. Because sometimes a book is just too long when all you want is 15 minutes of fun.
