Cocktail Quickie: The Margarita

margarita glassTequila is hot, and not just because George Clooney is part owner of a company that makes the stuff. Good friends of mine who are big tequila drinkers swear it gives them energy and a happy buzz, without the comedown that other spirits can leave behind.

A classic tequila drink is the Margarita, and here’s a basic recipe. If you want to get creative, you can add different fruit or herb essences.

Ingredients:

2 ounces Tequila
1 ounce Cointreau or Triple Sec
1 ounce lime juice
Salt poured onto a plate
Lime sliced into wedges

Rub the rim of your glass with a lime wedge, then dip the rim into the plate of salt so it sticks. Mix the other ingredients, then pour over ice. You can garnish the glass with a slice of lime. If you’d like to use a special Margarita glass, check them out here.
